Scottish news - overshadowed by Brexit chaos

12/12/2018 by Webmaster

Derek Mackay's Scottish budget took place today. At first glance, there have been no big changes, although the drift away from the rates and bands south of the border continues.  The proposed Scottish income tax rates and bands for 2019-20 are:

  • 19% - £12,500 – £14,549
  • 20% - £14,549 - £24,944
  • 21% - £24,944 - £43,430
  • 41% - £43,430 - £150,000
  • 46% - £150,000

So just some tweaking around the edges.  Tweaky tweaky, or "biddi-biddi-biddi-biddi", as Twiki from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century used to say.

Meanwhile, back in Westminster:

[Buck and Twiki running amid explosions]

“Taxicab! Biddi biddi biddi! TAXI!” (Twiki)
